Buying A Tent For The First Time

One of the most stressful experiences in any persons recreational life is when they go camping, without their parents, for the first time. Actually, strike that, it's not the going camping that is stressful, it's the planning that goes into it which is which make you pull your hair out. Chances are, when you went with your parents everything was done for you. You just got there, helped put up a tent, rolled in your sleeping bag and ate some s'mores. When you are doing it yourself, though, there is a whole different world out there. You have to actually buy your own stuff, which in itself is an investment. While buying sleeping bags and gas burners can be hard, the biggest investment, and most stressful, has to be looking through the Tents and trying to find one to buy. Because without a good tent, your camping experience is going to be a bust.

All right, actually, it's not that bad. It's not rocket science exactly, you're just picking a tent. The thing with Tents is that it's pretty simple to find a good one, you just have to consider what type of price range you can afford. The first thing you need to decide is how many people you are going to need the tent to house. Here's something to remember: just because a tent says that it can hold four people doesn't mean you want to fit four people in it. Tents are made to be a bit tight, so with a four person tent the most you are going to want to try to fit int here is three, two if you want your room. It's a good rule to always buy a tent that can "sleep" one extra person then you are planning to go with. That way you guys don't feel like sardines in there.

There are a few things that are must's when it comes to buy Tents. First off it MUST be waterproof. If it's not water proof then don't buy it. Even if it includes a rain guard, without waterproofing water could seep in from the sides or the floor. Next, best sure it's easy to put up. Might not seem like a big deal, but when it's getting dark and you need to put your tent up in the rain it will bee. Third, do your research. Don't just go into a shop and buy without reading reviews online.

And lastly, don't buy something just because it's the cheapest tent out there. Buying Tents shoudl be an investment. so put a little more money into it. You don't have to buy something that's three hundred dollars, but don't go under $50 either.
